HEDGEWOOD HEALING ARTS IS A HOLISTIC BODYWORK STUDIO PROVIDING MANUAL AND SOMATIC THERAPIES IN WHITEFISH, MONTANA.

WHAT WE OFFER

My approach to healing is holistic, truly incorporating all aspects of anatomy, spirituality, and the individual health needs of each body. I draw from the following list of techniques and modalities and tailor each session for the clients needs.

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

The bulk of clients require therapeutic deep tissue massage, which is physical manipulation of soft tissue. Itโ€™s a traditional massage, in which the primary focus is on the muscular skeletal and nervous systems.

HOLISTIC BODYWORK

Therapeutic massage in the basis for holistic work. During these sessions, physiological issues are addressed, in addition, energy balancing, embodiment, breathing exercises, guided meditation and the calling in of ancestral or spirit guides are incorporated.

TRAUMA INFORMED BODYWORK

This massage modality is designed for survivors of trauma, those experiencing PTSD, and anyone experiencing high anxiety and stress on a regular basis. These sessions address physical manifestations of trauma in the body in a safe and non-triggering environment.

SOMATIC THERAPY

The practitioner may use a variety of techniques to help the individual explore and process their physical experiences, including breathing exercises, movement, touch, and other forms of bodywork.

EMILYโ€™S STORY

I was raised in the Northeast, spending time in Vermont and upstate New York as a child. I grew up dancing in the woods, running away from home to the tomato garden, and talking to the willow tree in our backyard. I used my body a lot, moving through the world in a playful way, and a more disciplined way through dance and gymnastics. It was later in my teens that I began practicing yoga with my mom, who was a holistic healer in her own rite. She was a Reiki master and passed this gift on to me, as well as the knowledge of a deeper sight into holistic health through plants and nutrition, movement, spirituality, and consciousness. I attended the University of Vermont, where I received my B.A. and deepened my knowledge and understanding of how to use my body in conjunction with plants. I found great value in the communication between my mind and body and the role plants could play into that. This was the foundation for deeper growth as a healer.

After college, my blossoming love affair with the mountains had become full grown, spending my days skiing, climbing, hiking, foraging, and nourishing my communication with the natural world. During this time I took classes in herbalism, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, thai yoga massage and ashtanga yoga.  It was my love of the mountains that brought me west, to Montana, spending several years traveling, working, and living seasonally out of my little Subaru. Eventually, in 2013, I put down roots here in Northwest Montana.

In Montana, Iโ€™ve focused my healing practice on bodywork, expanding on my yoga training and extensive education in anatomy and physiology. I became a licensed massage therapist and recieved my LMT and NMT (Neuromuscular Therapist). In 2019 I began training as a trauma informed practitioner. I found a great need for this work, so my next steps were training in Somatic Experiencing. I completed this extensive three year training in 2024 and now offer somatic therapy for those wanting deep nervous system healing.

I look forward to seeing you in the studio!
